About CCIDS

Our director, Mr Evan Hannie, has worked in the industrial electronics industry for well over twenty years. He has extensive design and construction experience in both the industrial control/automation systems sector and industrial communication systems sector.

We are able to offer designs in various communication systems, including singlemode and multimode fibre optic systems, broadband backhaul microwave systems, narrowband radio systems, mesh type radio systems, etc.

CCIDS has professional Indemnity insurance cover. The policy is current.

Rand Water Board (RWB) Zuikerbosch Station 5 Project : Appointed by Sub-contractor to assist in review of RWB project requirements including C&I Systems and Communication Systems design requirements.

BERG RIVER VOëLVLEI AUGMENTATION SCHEME (BRVAS) : Revision of past Trans Caledon Tunnelling Authority (TCTA) project specifications, for use as standard tender design specifications in future TCTA projects.

Knellpoort Welbedacht Pipeline Project – current (started June 2018). Mokolo Crocodile Water Augmentation Project Phase 2 (MCWAP-2) – current (started July 2019). CCIDS Clients – GBN-JV, TCTA & DWA : Design of P&ID’s, Project specifications, Method Statements, Factory Acceptance Testing procedures, HAZOP procedures, Hook-up layouts, Loop diagrams, Control Philosophy documentation, Functional Design Specification documentation, I/O Lists, Communication Network Layouts, Block Diagrams, Logic diagrams, Function Block diagrams and Commissioning procedures. The project includes integration between the existing MCWAP-1 and new MCWAP-2 SCADA Systems. The integration includes data transfer of all I/O tags including arming signals, trending information, reporting information and historian information between the two SCADA Systems. The project includes the network connection of the MCWAP-1 and MCWAP-2 fiber optic network and wireless radio network on both a physical and logical level. Includes design of proper network management techniques to prevent network loops, configuration errors, IP addressing clashes, etc.

North South Carrier Pump Station 4.1 Project (NSC PS4.1 – Botswana 2015 – 2019) Clients – Bigen Africa Consulting Engineers & Botswana Water Utilities Corporation/Ministry of Minerals and Water Resources)EC&I Engineer for Bigen Africa: Appointed by the Client’s Engineer to oversee the main contractor. Included the overall review of P&ID’s, Project specifications, Method Statements, Factory Acceptance Testing procedures, HAZOP procedures, Hook-up layouts, Loop diagrams, Control Philosophy documentation, Functional Design Specification documentation, I/O Lists, Communication Network Layouts, Block Diagrams, Logic diagrams, Function Block diagrams and Commissioning procedures. The responsibilities included the review of the integration requirements between the existing NSC2.1 and new PS4.1 SCADA Systems (ABB 800xA DCS and GE i-Fix SCADA). Also reviewed the network integration design requirements for the NSC2.1 and PS4.1 fiber optic network (singlemode fiber with Ruggedcom 1501/2200 routers/switches) and microwave wireless radio network (Cambium PTP800).

North South Carrier Water Transfer Project 2.1 (NSC2.1 – Botswana 2015 – 2017) Clients – Bigen Africa Consulting Engineers & Botswana Water Utilities Corporation/Ministry of Minerals and Water ResourcesEC&I Engineer for Bigen Africa: Appointed by the Client’s Engineer to oversee the main contractor. Responsible for managing the closeout of the EC&I systems done by the main contractor. These included the DCS Systems, Electrical Systems (MV VSD’s, MV Switchgear, MV Motors, LV Systems, Automation Systems, Communication Networks (Fibre Optic Broadband Backbone Network & Microwave Licenced Spectrum Radio Broadband Network)

The project included integration between the existing NSC2A and new NSC2.1 SCADA Systems (ABB 800xA and Rockwell Factory Talk). The integration included data transfer of all I/O tags including arming signals, trending information, reporting information and historian information between the two SCADA Systems.
